Sysop installation:
Invoke DICE from the directory in which you desire the data files to
be located. For example, if you place dice in a C:\BBS\ONLINE\DICE\ sub
directory, then you will need to change directories from C:\BBS to that
sub directory prior to executing DICE. You DICE batch file would look
something like this:
┌────────────────────────┐
│cd c:\bbs\online\dice │
│DICE c:\bbs\dorinfo1.def│
│cd c:\bbs │
└────────────────────────┘
Notice that the batch file changes to the DICE sub directory and,
after DICE has run, changes back to the BBS sub directory.
In the above example, DICE is passed the path to DORINFO1.DEF as a
command line parameter. These are the parameters that DICE supports:
DICE D:PATH\DORINFOx.DEF 'normal RA-type BBS operation
DICE /L 'local mode
DICE /S 'setup/configure mode
DICE /C FirstName LastName Port Baud SysopFIrst SysopLast BBSName
If running Remote Access, QuickBBS, SuperBBS, Maximus or any other
BBS software that uses the RA-type DORINFOx.DEF drop-file format,
simply pass the path to DORINFOx.DEF as a command-line parameter.
To test the game in local mode, run DICE with the /L switch.
To configure the number of turns allowed per day, and number of days
between reseting the game, invoke DICE with the /S switch. You will be
prompted for your registration-number, the number of Turns each player
should receive per day, and the number of days between reseting the
game. If you are a registered user, you need only enter the
registration number once. Any time you wish to alter the setup, simply
hit enter when asked for Registration-number.
┌─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐
│ Until you send $15 to register, the game will reset │
│every 14 days and will allow each player only 3 turns per│
│ day, regardless of the values you enter. │
└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
If running with a locked port, it may be easier to pass the port and
baud (of the locked speed, not the actual speed) with the /C command
line switch. In this way you may pass all of the information DICE uses
about the caller and the BBS. The file DOLOCAL.BAT gives an example of
how to run (local) using the /C switch.

DICE is not free. You are permitted to use this game for up to 30
days. If you like it, send $15 to the address below. The unregistered
version of this game does not allow the sysop to change the number of
turns allowed per day (the default is 3) or the number of days between
resetting the game (the default is 14).
